In humans, images formed on the retina undergo a complex process as they travel through the optic nerve to the brain. Blurry images are perceived as clearer, while sharper images are perceived as blurrier. Furthermore, the halo seen in multifocal IOLs can be alleviated over time through neural adaptation. Because this mobile model eye study could not account for post-retinal neural adaptation, it is important to compare the results with other IOLs, including monofocal IOLs, in this comparative study.
