With Bausch & Lomb's LuxSmart, the target at 6 meters appears as clear as with a monofocal IOL. This is a phenomenon typically seen with recently released refractive multifocal IOLs. As the target comes closer it gradually becomes blurrier, but around 80 cm it becomes clear again before blurring once more.

With Bausch & Lomb's LuxSmart lens, distant buildings appear clear, almost like with a monofocal IOL. This is a phenomenon typically seen in recently released refractive multifocal IOLs. However, on very close inspection, the sharpness is slightly lower than with a monofocal IOL, while it is clearer than other diffractive multifocal IOLs.

With Bausch & Lomb's LuxSmart lens, there is almost no glare around bright lights at night, just like with a monofocal IOL. This is a phenomenon typically seen in recently released refractive multifocal IOLs.

With the Bausch & Lomb LuxSmart, at 6 meters the optotype appears as clear as with a monofocal intraocular lens.
This is a phenomenon typically seen with recently released refractive multifocal intraocular lenses.
As the optotype gets closer it gradually blurs, then becomes clear again at around 80 cm, and then blurs again.

With Bausch + Lomb's LuxSmart lens, at night there is almost no light scatter (glare) around bright lights (traffic signals, car headlights, taillights) compared to a monofocal intraocular lens.
This is a phenomenon typically seen in the refractive multifocal intraocular lenses released recently.

  • The specifications above are based on data provided by the IOL manufacturer or its distributor.
  • An IOL with a higher refractive index is thinner at the same dioptric power.
  • Abbe number: measured for optics exposed to air; a higher value means less chromatic aberration.
